The Friday rent paradox.

A quiet day changes the effective cost of the space actually used, even while the rent bill stays the same.

The chapter describes busy Tuesdays and quiet Fridays. Its example starts with rent of €25 per square metre and desk occupancy of around one third on the quietest day.

At 34% occupancy, allocating that monthly rent to the occupied share gives €25 ÷ 0.34 ≈ €74 per occupied square metre. This is a cost-allocation illustration, not a higher contractual rent or a separate daily charge.

The practical point is to examine the working week and the purpose of office visits. Peak demand, collaboration and the mix of settings matter when judging how much space an organisation needs.
