The 2025 edition moves from assigning a space to each process towards allowing people to choose what helps them work.
The article on needs-based working reflects on the limits of fixed activity-based assignments. A task-based room mix can be useful, but people may prefer different conditions for concentration, routine work and exchange.
The proposed step is to retain a variety of spaces while giving individuals more freedom to choose the setting. Change also requires conversation and an explanation of why sharing is introduced.
